The Task: Role Descriptions
Editors - You will be responsible for writing an editorial on issues facing the girls at your Middle School and describing how your magazine will address these issues. You will be the leader of the group and report to the Publisher.
- Read the role descriptions of all of the other jobs listed here
- Read the job descriptions for each of the other group members.
- Have a huddle at the beginning of every class to monitor the progress of the group
- Assist each of the other group members in research, if needed, and in editing their documents.
- Communicate at least weekly, if not daily with the Publisher.
- Include each member of the group in discussions and make sure that each member's opinions are heard and considered.
- Write an editorial that introduces the purpose of the magazine, the writers and the topics.
- Assist in the design of your group's magazine.
- Find clip art to illustrate your editorial and the other articles as needed.
- Keep the publisher informed of the problems the group is having.
- With the input of the group members, set deadlines for the completion of each part of the magazine.
Advice Columnists - You will write an advice column for 'tween girls on topics you choose with your group.
- Work with other group members to decide what topics to write about.
- Review a sample of the advice column dear susie.
- Research "real life" questions relating to the topics and will compose answers.
- Work with the editor to ensure the answers are based on research and biblical principles.
- Meet the deadlines that your group sets for each part of the magazine.
Feature Writers - You will write a non fiction article on a topic you choose with your group.
- Review the sample feature article to help you understand your job. How To Prevent a Bad Date
- Write a non-fiction feature on a topic after having done research to compile information, summarize it, and organize it.
- Identify solutions to the problem and include a Biblical perspective on the issues.
- Work with the editor to edit your article.
- Find clip art to illustrate your article.
- Meet the deadlines that your group sets for each part of the magazine.
Fiction Writers - You will write a fiction story on a topic you choose with your group.
- Review a sample fiction story to help you understand your job.
- Research a topic and write a fiction story that describes the problem or issue.
- Include your perspective on the issue as well as a Biblical perspective.
- Find clip art to illustrate your story.
- Meet deadlines that the group sets for each part of the magazine.
